Pilates Path And Beyond

A calm, sensitive and friendly teacher, with over twenty years of personal Pilates experience, I strive to help clients achieve their physical potential through developing a healthy and happy body.  I teach a range of classes, and provide 1:1 therapies, across Sussex and London.

I have a background in dance, and began learning Pilates at ballet school in 1987 with Alan Herdman, founder of the UK’s first Pilates studio.  Although professionally I chose a different path, with a successful 17 year Costume career, working in theatres across London’s West End, and touring nationally and internationally, I continued with Pilates classes throughout.

Having personally felt the many benefits to my own health, fitness and vitality from Pilates, in 2006 I decided a career change was needed, and began retraining to teach its many benefits to others.

Qualifications & Training

I qualified as a Pilates Foundation® Matwork Teacher in 2007, after 14 months of extensive training with Anoushka Boone at Pilates In Motion, London. The diversity of study involved working with both the classical and evolved repertoire, remedial and rehabilitation exercises, use of small equipment and props, and in-depth anatomy and physiology training.

In 2008 I began training with the Power Plate® Academy, and in 2010 qualified as a certified Power Plate® Level 2 Acceleration Trainer.

In 2011 I qualified as a CThA Accredited Seated Shiatsu Massage Practitioner with the highly acclaimed Walk In Back Rub Centre, London.  I also qualified as a CMA Accredited Meditation Teacher & Level 2 Reiki & Seichem Practitioner, through Maxine Fone, London.

In 2012 I qualified as a Pre & Post Natal Pilates Specialist through The Pilates Foundation®, to include membership to the Guild of Pregnancy and Postnatal Exercise Practitioners.  As of Spring 2012 I shall begin my Comprehensive Studio training through Polestar Pilates UK, in London.

I am a qualified First Aider At Work and have full professional commercial insurance through Balens Specialist Brokers.
